MUSIC NEWS:

This week we have another “tribute” bout. Last week we honored the memory of an amazing and influential person – Adam Yauch, aka The Beastie Boys’ MCA. This week we honor a pair of brave souls who are being true to themselves. So this week we have Antony and the Johnsons against Against Me!.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about then get on the Google.

So go, watch and vote now!

It’s time for some free music! I think we’ve been failing lately at our commitment to give you links to free music. Tell you what, to make it up to you we’ll give you a link to a free song right now! How about that? That’s how we roll.

Spinner is giving away a new song from Royal Headache. The song, “Down the Lane,” sounds to me like The Beatles and Guided By Voices. Pretty good company, yeah? Check it out right here.

FYI, we will be off next week. We may post a couple things here and there but we will be in Orlando, FL hanging out with Herman’s Hermits. Seriously.

We were off yesterday. Didn’t mean to be but, you know, life.

Anywho, we do have a video to kick off today’s Friday Dance Party and it’s from Mary J. Blige. Remember when Mary J. Blige made that Burger King commercial and everyone was all like “yo, that’s racist!” so Burger King pulled it? Good times. Well, this video is a little less controversial than that. Enjoy.

Mary J. Blige’s video for “Why?” featuring Rick Ross:

Cursive’s new video for “Drunken Birds” features a performer and someone that wants to be a performer. Or maybe even wants to be the other performer. It’s a really great video. Cursive usually makes good videos and this one might be the best I’ve seen from them. Cursive better watch it though because they are kinda setting the bar a little high.

Cursive’s “Drunken Birds” video:

I also like how the band is sticking with the Gemini/twin thing through all their videos for the new tracks. Good on ya boys!

Did you see “Avengers?” Yeah, I know, we all did. Apparently everyone in the world did. That movie made so much money! All of the money. That movie made all the money in the world. That’s why the stock market has been falling lately. It’s been falling because all the money is going to the Avengers.

But that’s cool because it was a good movie.

Did you know Soundgarden made a song for it? I didn’t. I should have. It’s kinda my job to know. Good thing the interwebs told me about it. I’s hate to miss this new video and song from Soundgarden.

Soundgarden, “Live to Rise:”

Hmm… maybe I would have been better off now knowing this existed.
