The most common question I field, at least with regard to music, is where I find all the music that I listen too.
That’s kind of a hard question because the truth is, I find it everywhere. Except the radio. You know what’s awesome about the radio? Nothing. The radio is so 1940. If I wanted to hear the same eight songs over and over again I’d still be working at Target. But I can’t work at Target get. Apparently they have a strict “no stealing” policy. Jerks.
While I won’t give away all my secrets, because I do enjoy discovering all the awesome music before everyone else (an holding it over their heads – because I’m an elitist), I will pass on a place that is really, really kick-ass. This place alone has given me a couple great finds and caused a significant dent in my credit card balance.
Check it out. It’s a place where anyone can upload (legally?) their own mixtapes and anyone with a web browser can listen to any mixtape on the site. Pretty kick ass, yeah? Well, sure. Sometimes. One thing you realize very quickly after going through a couple of the lists on there, is that a lot of people have really shitty taste in music.
But everyone once in a while you’ll come across a really good list, full of shit you’ve never heard of – those are the ones that make the site worth while.
But that’s it, that’s all you’re gonna get from me as to how I find all the good music. Everything else is a trade secret. If I give you any more I won’t be able to “wow” you with all the cool shit I know about that you don’t therefore giving me little else to feel superior about…
You know what? Forget what I said about Muxtape.com. That site is lame and it only has really bad 70s pop-music on it. Listen to the radio instead. The radio is awesome. Especially those eight songs they play.
