So another year has come and gone but before we turn our full attention to 2010, the Music Boxer staff takes a look at 2009 one last time. Editor J. Allen took a video camera around and asked Music Boxer staff members to reflect on the past year. The video above is a collection of awards, honors and general comments made by the Music Boxer staff.
Unfortunately Carrie could not participate in the video so here are her 2009 reflections:
Best creepy middle-aged male comeback: New Kids on the Block?
Album most likely to NOT win a Pilitzer Prize: Untitled, R. Kelly
Worst emerging musical trend: Boy / girl combos
Best emerging musical trend: Gypsy Music
Most overrated scene: Portland
Most underrated scene: Nashville
Most overrated scene, but I like it anyway: Brooklyn
Best comeback of an instrument: trumpet
Worst comeback of an instrument: synthesizer
Best “restore my faith the haven’t lost it” album: Fantasies, Metric
Most forward-thinking, “Albums are sooooooo 20th century” band: Ash (return of the White Rabbit’s twice-a-month release a single thingy)
There were some pretty amazing highs and some terrible lows last year and the Music Boxer staff was there for all of it. Hopefully 2010 will be just as amazing and maybe, if we are all really lucky, it might even be a little better.

Yes I did. You only said like 5 things anyways. The audio was shitty on a couple and the others weren’t as good as some of the other stuff that’s in there. I didn’t want the video to be any longer than 5 minutes. No one wants to watch us talk shit about Owl City for more than 5 minutes. Not even our moms.
When I posted this I forgot to include Carrie’s list. That’s what I get for trying to rush and get this up over the weekend.
And to the couple people that asked, I don’t have a list and you guys see way too much of me as it is.
