Dallas Green is from Canada.
For those of you in the US public school system, that’s located just to the north of the U.S.A.
Dallas Green is a guitar player and singer for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. It’s ok if you’ve never heard of them. We aren’t going to be talking aboot them anyway. We are going to talk aboot Dallas’ other band, City and Colour.
City and Colour is a “solo”/acoustic project for Mr. Green and the name is derived from… well, it’s basically just a play on his own name.
Dallas Green. City and Colour. Get it?
And yes, that last word there is spelled correctly. Canadians like to add U’s to words that don’t need them. We don’t now why but we assume it has something to do with the fact that they still have a queen.
City and Colour’s sound, is acoustic and laced with heavily personal lyrics. Strong melodies are combined with rather simple sounding rhythms to produce some really great sounding songs.
You can’t mosh to it but if you are a guy and you put this in for your girl, she’ll think you are sensitive thus ensuring a happy ending. If you are a girl and you put on City and Colour for your boyfriend he’ll enjoy it more than he would the soundtrack to Juno, thus ensuring that he’ll let you give him a happy ending.
City and Colour will remind you, a lot actually, of Dashboard Confessional. There are a number of similarities there, which we won’t get into, but the biggest difference is that City and Colour doesn’t sound like that whiney-overly-emotional douche bag you knew in college that always ended up crying at a party but shagged your girlfriend anyway. City and Colour sounds more like the dude that was kinda hard-core but at the same time willing to talk about his feelings and ended up shagging your girlfriend.
And he has a shit ton of tattoos. Which makes him hard-core.
So check out City and Colour… because we told you to.
