The story of Manic Street Preachers is an interesting one. If you find yourself with a couple extra minutes today (it’s Friday before a holiday so that is pretty much a guarantee) you should check out the Wikipedia page. At any rate, Manic Street Preachers are getting ready to drop a new album on all our asses soon (Postcards from a Young Man on Sept. 20) and RCRDLBL has a new track from the Brits that doesn’t appear on the new album. So… it’s kinda like a free b-side I guess.
Anywho, the song is called “I’m Leaving You For Solitude” and you can download that shit right here.
Awesome. I like these guys. I have for a long time. In fact, I may just got “follow” them on that new Ping thing.
and that is the subtle way in which I have just let you all know that I and Music Boxer are on Ping.

Matt and Kim (who I’m not really that big a fan of… I know, but yeah… just don’t like them) have a new song on their MySpace page if you wanted to hear it. I haven’t listened to it (please reference prior statement of dislike) but I’m sure there are some people out there that do want to hear it.
If you are one of those people, then click here. If you are like me and you are not one of those people, click here.
It’s Friday so… yeah. And it’s a long holiday weekend in which several Music Boxer staffers are leaving town and going on crazy adventures. I for one will be all up in Southern California this weekend making it all happen all over that particular geographic area. Rock. Basically, what that all means is that things are going to be a little light today and Monday so… yeah. There you go.

Ben Folds teamed up with author Nick Hornby for a new album. Folds wrote the tunes and Hornby wrote the lyrics. Weird. But at the same time kinda cool. Bits and pieces from the album have slowly leaked out but today we have an actual video.
This song, “Things You Think,” has a spoken word bit from Hornby and also features Pomplamoose and in fact this video is from Pomplamoose’s vlog (is that even a word?). So here you go, enjoy.
Eh… I’ll reserve judgement until I hear the rest of the album… but I don’t think I’m gonna rush right out and get this one. But the album, Lonely Avenue, comes out Sept. 28.

Brit-poppers Keane have filmed a new little video for the song “Clear Skies.” The video is really nothing more than concert footage from the band’s recent tour but you know, whatever. There is still room for music videos using clips from live performances. There was a time when almost every video was like this so maybe they are going for a nostalgia thing. Or maybe they are cheap. Or maybe they just wanted to make a video of a bunch of live performance clips.
Check out the new Keane video here:
Yesterday (was it yesterday? Shit I don’t remember) I posted a newsblog about how excited I was getting about the new Interpol album. I’m still waiting for the album to hit my inbox but the album has been uploaded to MySpace for everyone to listen to early.
Yay!
And you know what? I’m really liking it. Like… really liking it.
But if you want to hear it you can just click here and rock out to this all by yourself.
