![]() Port O’Brien has released a new video for the track “Leap Year.” The video features a trio heading out on a road trip, a dude who totally hates lemons and no shots through long grass… but there is plenty of slow motion so chalk one up on the “indie video cliché” game board. But these guys sure do look like they have a lot of fun on their road trips judging by the amount of smoke that pours out of the car when they open the car doors. Check out the video for “Leap Year” here: “Leap Year” is from teh album Threadbare which came out last year. Posted by: J. Allen on March 10 2010
![]() Prince, Or the artist formerly known as some weird symbol, has a new song hitting the interwebs called “Cause and Effect” and it sounds… um, how do you say? Not good? Yeah, that’s what I meant to say. Click here to have yourself a listen: See what I mean? I’m not sure what Prince is going for here but I’m not digging this song at all and I consider myself a fan of the dude. But whatevs… not everything can be “Cream.” Posted by: J. ![]() Everybody’s favorite (sometimes) instrumental band from San Diego, The Album Leaf, has a new video for the track “There Is A Wind.” This video has everything! Clowns, shots through tall grass (it’s an “indie” video after all), old people, fast cars, fast women, metaphors that we don’t understand (probably), dead frogs on birthday cakes, geriatric genocide and, of course, wind. Check it out: I think we need to start a new drinking game with video releases where we take a drink every time a cliché is used. If we played with this video we’d totally be shitfaced right now. Oh yeah… don’t forget to read the review we posted of The Album Leaf’s newest album! Posted by: J. Allen on March 09 2010
![]() MGMT has released a track from their upcoming album everybody! The song, titled “Flash Delirium” is available for download (for FREE!) over at the band’s website. The song doesn’t stray too much from what we’ve come to expect from MGMT but there is something a little off about it – can’t quite put my finger on it. But have a listen for yourself. Click here to head over to MGMT’s website to take yourself a listen and to download the new track. So… what do you guys think? It certainly isn’t the next “Kids” or “Electric Feel” or “Time to Pretend.” Hmmm… oh well. Everything changes. MGMT’s new album, Congratulations, comes out April 13. Posted by: J. ![]() Last week (was it last week? I can’t remember…) we told you guys about how We Are Scientists released a new song called “Rules Don’t Stop.” The duo has now followed up with a video for the song and it’s (the video) is kinda… well, I’ll let Chris Cane from We Are Scientists explain it. This is what he posted on his Twitter account about the video:
So true, so true. Anywho, here’s the video: Neat! On a side note, everyone should follow Chris Cane on Twitter because he is very funny. Very. Posted by: J. Allen on March 08 2010
![]() Jakob Dylan (remember him?) has released a new track from his upcoming solo album. The song “Nothing But the Whole Wide World” is a country infused thumper and features the vocal stylings of Neko Case. And we have the song right here, right now (I know… wrong band) for you to listen to! If you dig the tune, you can click here to download “Nothing But the Whole Wide World” from Spinner.com Dylan’s second solo album, Women and Country, comes out April 6. Check out “Nothing But the Whole Wide World” here:

![]() So Vampire Weekend was on Saturday Night Live (hosted by the amazingly awesome Zach Galifianakis) last weekend and killed it. The performance they did of “Giving up the Gun” was crazy good! Crazy I tell you! Go check it out on Hulu. But we aren’t here to talk about the SNL performance. Nay! We are here to talk about another, equally awesome performance by the guys who remind Eric of the Hamptons. La Blogotheque (the best music website in the history of ever!) has posted a video of Vampire Weekend performing an acoustic, intimate show somewhere in Europe (maybe, I don’t speak French so I really have no idea where this is). Check it out: Pretty rad huh? Posted by: J. Allen on March 08 2010
![]() This weekend we lost another extremely talented artist way too soon. Mark Linkous, better known as Sparklehorse took his own life on Saturday. Linkous was a huge influence on many and had recently participated in the Dark Night of the Soul project with Danger Mouse and David Lynch. In Linkous’ memory, here is the video for “It’s a wonderful life”: Posted by: J. Allen on March 07 2010
![]() So the Oscars were tonight… neat. I’ve never been one for watching Hollywood give (often undeserved) awards to itself but whatevs… it’s a free world and a lot of people get into it. But to show that I’m not a complete spoiled sport when it comes to the movie industry’s big day, I decided to go with an idea that came in from Twitter for this week’s bout: last years best song versus this year’s best song. I like that idea so… here you go. This week’s bout is this year’s best original song winner, Ryan Bingham for his “The Weary Kind” from the Crazy Heart, versus A. R. Rahman and his song “Jai Ho” from the film Slumdog Millionaire. Last week’s winner, Fugazi (barely… by like 150 votes), has been sent to the winner’s circle. Most Popular News:
