Father John Misty is a band that features Josh Tillman, formerly of Fleet Foxes. Josh Tillman, or J. Tillman as he is also known, left Fleet Foxes in part to focus on his solo project Father John Misty. Got it? Got it.
So do you want to download a free song from Father John Misty? Well, you’re in luck because the band’s label has posted a song on Soundcloud that you can download for free! How nice of them! But if you want to listen to the song first you can do that AND download the song right here:
Thanks Sub Pop!

Red Hot Chili Peppers are giving away a free EP that includes a couple live tracks. It’s not totally free though. You do have to sacrifice an email address. But if you are in to Red Hot Chili Peppers that’s probably a small price to pay, right? It’s a little steep for me but this album was never meant for me.
The tracks on the EP are as follows:
“Look Around”
“Dani California”
“Monarchy Of Roses”
“If You Have To Ask”
“Give It Away”

Did you get the new Nada Surf album yet? I told you it was good so you should have gone out to get it. If you haven’t, don’t worry there is still time. But also, hurry up because you are missing some valuable Nada Surf listening time.
And if you, for some unknown reason, still need more convincing, here is a free (FREE!) download of the best song from Nada Surf’s new album (courtesy of Sound It Out).
Nada Surf’s “Waiting For Something:”
If you didn’t figure it out, you click on the little down arrow to download the song. But you got that, right? You guys are smart.

Nada Surf, one of the most underrated (ever?) bands and a personal favorite, has a new song out today! That’s fucking awesome. Sorry for the language but that is just some really great news.
The band will be releasing a new album, The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy, in January of next year but since that is forever away, the band and NPR have consipired to bring us a new track well ahead of the release date. Awesome. And you know what? The new track, “When I Was Young,” is fucking great. I am in love with it. I’ve listened to it about 10,023 times since this morning and I’ll probably listen to it 123,527 more times before the end of the day. And to make it even more awesome, NPR is letting you download it.
Click to listen to/download “When I Was Young.”
Stay tuned for more new tracks because there have been many in the last couple days…

Hey! Want some free Frightened Rabbit? Sure you do. The band is great so why wouldn’t you? That’s what I thought.
Frightened Rabbit is giving away a free EP with three new songs on it. Awesome. But, in order to get this free new EP you do have to sign up for the band’s mailinglist. A small price to pay for three very good songs I think. And this EP has some special guests on it as well. The second track, “Fuck This Place,” features Tracyanne from Camera Obscura and the third song, “,” features Scottish folk legend Archie Fisher.
Download the EP here.
What a way to start a morning!
