Did you get the new Nada Surf album yet? I told you it was good so you should have gone out to get it. If you haven’t, don’t worry there is still time. But also, hurry up because you are missing some valuable Nada Surf listening time.
And if you, for some unknown reason, still need more convincing, here is a free (FREE!) download of the best song from Nada Surf’s new album (courtesy of Sound It Out).
Nada Surf’s “Waiting For Something:”
If you didn’t figure it out, you click on the little down arrow to download the song. But you got that, right? You guys are smart.

Nada Surf, one of the most underrated (ever?) bands and a personal favorite, has a new song out today! That’s fucking awesome. Sorry for the language but that is just some really great news.
The band will be releasing a new album, The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy, in January of next year but since that is forever away, the band and NPR have consipired to bring us a new track well ahead of the release date. Awesome. And you know what? The new track, “When I Was Young,” is fucking great. I am in love with it. I’ve listened to it about 10,023 times since this morning and I’ll probably listen to it 123,527 more times before the end of the day. And to make it even more awesome, NPR is letting you download it.
Click to listen to/download “When I Was Young.”
Stay tuned for more new tracks because there have been many in the last couple days…

Hey! Want some free Frightened Rabbit? Sure you do. The band is great so why wouldn’t you? That’s what I thought.
Frightened Rabbit is giving away a free EP with three new songs on it. Awesome. But, in order to get this free new EP you do have to sign up for the band’s mailinglist. A small price to pay for three very good songs I think. And this EP has some special guests on it as well. The second track, “Fuck This Place,” features Tracyanne from Camera Obscura and the third song, “,” features Scottish folk legend Archie Fisher.
Download the EP here.
What a way to start a morning!

Hey, wanna hear what Alex Ebert sounds like when he’s not fronting a bunch of dirty hippies or new wave speed freaks? Well, you are in luck! The lead singer of Ima Robot and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros has a solo album coming out. Yay?
The first single from the album is titled “Truth” and there is a video for it. If you are into speed freaks turned hippies covered in mud then this video is perfect for you. If you are not so in to speed freaks turned hippies covered in mud then maybe you skip this one.
Check the video out here:
You in to that? You dig? You wish you could hear that sing with RZA rapping on it? Guess what? You’re in luck! RCRD.LBL has a remix of “Truth” available for download featuring RZA. Yay? Click here to get it.
You know who likes hippies covered in mud? You mom. Burn.

The Strokes have posted a new video for the new song “Taken For A Fool.” I gotta say – I think I may have turned the corner on The Strokes. For the longest time I didn’t like them but the last bit of new stuff I’ve heard I have liked.
The new video is a trippy little thing that features the band in quadruplicate performing the song while some dark, psychedelic shit goes on around them. Which, I guess, is probably what most of the band sees on a normal day.
Check out the video for “Taken For A Fool:”
While I am enjoying the recent Strokes stuff I’ve heard I am not sure they are deserving of a tribute album. But I guess I’m in the majority there as Stereogum has put together a tribute album. Ok…
The album does have some really great artists participating so… there is that. Owen Pallett, The Morning Benders, Peter Bjorn and John, Real Estate, Wise Blood and many more lend their talents to The Strokes songs for this tribute album. You can download it here.
