It’s time to look back on some stuff that we meant to post but didn’t and then turn right around and post something brand new(ish).
First up is a fun little video from Dananananaykroyd for the song “Muscle Memory” that the band posted a while back. This video is pretty much exactly what my workout regimen looks like. Except mine is less Addidas and more spandex.
Dananananaykroyd’s “Muscle Memory:”
Next up we have a new video from Florence & The Machine. This video, for the song “Lover To Lover,” is pretty boring. It’s just Florence singing on a stage. Boring! Where are the slow motion shots of birds and falling and racism (just kidding) that were in all the other Florence & The Machine videos?
Florence & The Machine’s “Lover to Lover” video:
I was sitting in the record store yesterday thinking about the whole “cloud player” thing. Both Amazon and iTunes have “cloud players” now and I was thinking about that as I held five new CDs/records in my hands. And you know what I thought? I thought “fuck the cloud player.” Why? Because that shit is gonna lose all your shit at some point and that’s just unacceptable. If all my music was on a server someplace, in the “cloud,” and that “cloud” lost my music I would lose my mind and probably resort to some form of violence.
But that’s just my thing.
Similarly, there are a bunch of albums streaming online right now! You can listen to these new albums on “the cloud!” Here’s a list of what we’ve been able to track down so far:
Spinner.com is streaming a bunch of albums including some from the following:
Paul McCartney
Neil Young
1 2 3
Dananananaykroyd
The Phoenix
WOODS
… and many more.
NPR is streaming new albums from:
Jill Scott
Bon Iver
YACHT
And the New Junior Boys EP is streaming over at Stereogum.
I love how people use the “the cloud” to explain things when they really just mean “on a server.” But I think I’m going to start to use “the cloud” for everything. Like:
Some person that I might know: “I went to the clinic and they said that I might have some very serious disease and I’m not sure I have the tools and strength to deal with it. What do you think I should do? I mean… I’ve never had to deal with something like this and… I’m scared. You know?”
Me: “The cloud, dude. The cloud.”
