So here we are. It’s the very end of 2010. After this week 2010 will be locked away and we’ll only be able to visit it via YouTube videos and memories that are likely hazed by abuses.
And as it is the end of the year it’s time to put this year’s champ against the all time Music Boxer winner. This year Eels came out of no where and became the highest rated video of the year. Kind of a surprise considering it’s such a simple video and such a simple (but good) song. So now Eels will take on the Music Boxer Grand Champion – Flight of the Conchords.
As always, the winner will come down to your vote. So go vote now!
Next week is 2011 and we’ll have all new bout starting then!

It’s here! The championship is finally here.
Last week’s winner, Ben Folds Five staged a come from behind victory to knock off Fugazi and make it into this week’s finals against Eels. And so that’s where we are now. The Finals. Eels versus Ben Folds Five. Who will win? I don’t know. But if you want your favorite to win then you should go vote right now!
The winner of this final will take on the grand champion, Flight of the Conchords, next week! Yeah… shit’s getting real.
So go vote!

It’s December, 2010. Let me say that again so it can sink in. It’s December, 2010! Holy shit! That’s so far in the future. I mean, we are obviously living in it right now but remember back in 1995 how far away 2010 seemed? And now it’s almost over. It’s almost 2011! Holy shit!
That aside, December means it’s championship time! That’s right. The top for vote-getting videos will now face off to take on the grand champion, Flight of the Concords. The brackets are typical championship fashion meaning that number one will take on number four (this week) and number two will take on three (next week). The winner of each of these bouts will fight for the right to take on Flight of the Concords at the end of the month!
Ex-fucking-citing!
So, this week we have #1 Eels taking on #4 U2! Go and vote right now!
Last week’s winner, R.E.M., has been sent to the winner’s circle.

I just made a decision. Today is all about shit that I really like, nay, love. Today I’m gonna post shit that I love. No talking shit about My Chemical Romance or Linkin Park. No talking about how Neil Young kinda creeps me out now. No talking about how I’d do it if someone put a gun to my head but other than that I don’t think I’d go anywhere near Katy Perry’s vagina. No! Today is about love!
And I love Eels. I wish they made better videos… oops, wait. Strike that. No negativity today! I love Eels and here is a new video from Eels for “My Baby Loves Me:”
Seriously though… I do wish I loved Eels videos. But I don’t. At least I love all their music. All of it.
We reviewed the shit out of the new Eels album. Did you see it yet? You should see it. And by “it” I mean the review. But you should also buy the album… which is called Tomorrow Morning. But it and tell your friends that you bought it because people are totally impressed when you buy music these days.
Check it out then! The review is right here. And not to spoil it for you but the album is totally radical – as the kids say.
In other news that isn’t related to music at all… a new issue of The Scoop News went up this morning as well. Just sayin’

Continuing our coverage of the new Eels album, today we have what will likely be the last bit of news about it. You see, the album comes out tomorrow so… we are really close to the end of this round of Eels news. But in one last news blast, we are happy to report that the full, new Eels album, Tomorrow Morning, is up on MySpace right now! Yes, that’s right, you can listen to the new Eels album for free right now! Yay technology!
Click here to listen to Tomorrow Morning.
We’ll have a full review this week but after the first couple listens this album sounds like the culmination of everything the Eels have ever released. You can hear bits of every album here. And that’s definitely a good thing.

It’s a new day so that means there has been a new Eels song released.
I must say, I’m good with this strategy of releasing a new track every week or so. It really helps me get excited for the new album. Of course, I’m not sure I’d be able to say that if all these songs sucked. Like, say… if Linkin Park did the same thing (they might be but I don’t give a shit) I still wouldn’t be excited about their new album.
Anywho, Eels have released a new song, “Baby Loves Me,” on the official Eels MySpace page for you all to enjoy. If you want to enjoy, click here and listen to “Baby Loves Me” as well as the other two new tracks previously released.
The song continues the upbeat and optimistic tone we’ve seen from the other couple songs that we’ve already heard. The song is also good. but that’s to be expected.
The band’s new album, Tomorrow Morning, comes out on Aug 24.

We all know that Eels have a new album coming out soon and that is awesome. While we’ve had a couple song leaks, today we have the first official video for a track from the new album! Super awesome.
The video is for the track “Spectacular Girl” and it (the video) has pretty much the same plot as every Angelina Jolie movie made in the last 10 years – a nice, ordinary chick that turns out to be a cold blooded killer. Chicks man… always turning out to be snipers.
Anywho, check out the video for “Spectacular Girl:”
See!
Eels’ new album, Tomorrow Morning, comes out on Aug 24.
Monday. Blah. You kn ow what I mean? You totally know what I mean.
But there is some good news this morning. I haven’t posted very many tour dates on this site for a while. Not sure why… just haven’t. But my inbox is flooded (not literally – that would suck) with people letting me know band’s are heading out on tour. So rather than posting each of these individually, here is a big ass list of bands that are going on tour this fall and a link to their tour dates. This obviously isn’t a full list of EVERY band that is going on tour… because that would be a stupid long list. Anywho, here you go:
James
Eels
Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos
Jonsi
Foals
The National
Frightened Rabbit
Owen Pallett
U2
Stars
Guided By Voices
Like I said… there are a ton more, that’s just the ones I had in my inbox.

We’ve been telling you about the new Eels album for a couple months now so we will assume you remember our discussions about it. Right. so let’s get to the new news.
Spinner.com and Eels has released another new song from the upcoming Tomorrow Morning album and it (the song) is way good. Very upbeat, especially for an Eels song, but very good. The song, “Spectacular Girl,” sounds less like the more recent Eels stuff and more like the tunes from Beautiful Freak and Electro-Shock Blues but, as I said, upbeat.
Want to listen to the track yourself? Regardless of what you just said, you do in fact want to listen to this song because it’s the best. Ok, maybe not “the best” but it is better than most everything we’ve featured on this here website in a while.
Anywho, click here to take yourself a listen to “Spectacular Girl.”
Tomorrow Morning comes out the end of next month so there will probably be plenty more music between now and then.

Here’s the deal. Anytime Eels (or Mark Oliver Everett since he IS Eels) do anything, and we mean anything, we will post about it here. Why? Because Eels are awesome and they deserve any and all coverage we give them. There are a couple other bands like that out there and that’s why you see news reports on the same people all the time. That is of course when we aren’t posting news stories about Limp Bizkit making excuses for cancelling a bunch of their shows – which we still haven’t done (thankfully) because there has been real news to report.
That said, Eels have a new album coming out very soon, Tomorrow Morning, and the first track from said album has hit the interwebs. Right now, on the band’s official site you can listen to “Looking Up” and even download it for free after sacrificing your email. Click here to head to the official Eels webpage.
The song is decidedly more upbeat than anything from the band’s last album, End Times. But I guess that’s what this new album is all about. It’s the third album in a trilogy about love.
The band is also heading out on the road (finally!) and dates and places are right here.
Oh yeah, the new album comes out in August so there will likely be several more posts as new songs and videos are released. Consider yourself warned.
