This week is the start of fall. Remember how we thought summer was never going to end? A couple months ago I literally thought that summer was never going to end. Well, not literally, but I did think to myself “why the shit does it have to be hot all the god damned time? This stupid heat is going to last forever.” Probably. I probably said that. It certainly sounds like something I would say. But regardless of all of that, summer is over this week and fall is starting. Awesome. Fall is awesome.
So in honor of fall we have a “fall” themed bout. The Fall (get it?) and their song “Reformation” takes on Fall Out Boy (don’t get it yet) and their song “Grand Theft Autumn / Where Is Your Boy” (get it?).
So go, watch and vote.
Last week’s winner, Oingo Boingo, has been sent to the winner’s circle.

A little while ago Patrick Stump the former Fall Out Boy singer (and former fat kid) had a poll on his website because he couldn’t decide between two versions of the song “Spotlight.” Well, I guess he figured it out because the single is now officially out and we have a video for it.
The video is kinda dumb. It features a bunch of kids doing things that are just barely talents. I mean, I know it takes a lot of practice and “skill” to do the things these kids are doing in this video but it doesn’t make them any more interesting. It’s not harsh. I realize that they have something no one else can do (well, maybe a handful of other people can do it) but that doesn’t really mean I want to see them do it nor does it make me want to engage with them in any way.
Just sayin’….
Anyways, here’s the video for “Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia):”
Neat?

Patrick Stump is (was?) the lead singer of a little band called Fall Out Boy. You’ve probably never heard of them. They were only popular for like a minute back in the early 2005s.
Anywho, Stumpy (or “Stumpy” as he is known amongst his friends – probably) is getting ready to drop some solo on us. He’s getting his stuff together to release a solo album but is having trouble deciding which version of one song that he should include on his new album. That’s where we (you actually, I’m politely declining to participate) come in. You can listen to both versions of the song “Spotlight” and then vote for your favorite! It’s like “American Idol” but different and only slightly less annoying.
So here are both versions of “Spotlight.” Enjoy:
New Regrets version:
Oh Nostalgia version:
You can vote for which one you like best here. That is, if you even want to.

Oh good. That dude from Fall Out at the Disco and some chick just released a new song. Yeah, apparently they started a new band? Neat?
Of course I’m talking about Pete Wentz’s (of Fall Out Boy) new band The Black Cards. Picking on Pete Wentz has kinda become the national pastime over the last couple years and making Pete Wentz jokes is pretty cliché so I’ll leave it all there.
Regardless of what Pete Wentz now represents there are a ton of people that still like him and at least he’s out there trying new stuff. His new band is NOTHING that I would ever listen to but hey… maybe some of you out there might like it. So click here if you want to check out teh new song titled “Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Fame.”
So yeah… I’m done here.

With Fall Out Boy on indefinite hiatus Pete Wentz has to do something I guess. So instead of sitting around and counting money and regretting hooking up with the ugly Simpson sister, Wentz has started a new band called Black Cards. Yay?
A week ago Wentz leaked a song snippet and did the same thing again yesterday. We here at Music Boxer central ignored it the first time but it appears that this is in fact real (I mean, they even have a Facebook and MySpace page now!) so I figured we might as well put it out there so you guys aren’t surprised by it. We don’t want you coming back to us in a couple months screaming “why didn’t you warn us?!”
So consider this your warning.
But in the case that curiosity is getting the better of you, you can listen to the new song snippet (allegedly titled “Beating in My Chest”) by heading over to a password protected Vimeo page and entering “july8.” Click here to listen.
The song is pretty poppy. And by “pretty” I mean “really.” The band is apparently fronted by a woman as both song leaks feature a female singer. Coincidently, both song snippets are completely uninteresting to me… but whatever. What do I know anyways?
