This is an old bit of “news” but whatever. Someone just recently clued me in on it so cut me some slack. If you are gonna be mad at anyone for me being so late to the game, be mad at Tim. The fact that I missed this (for five months) is his fault.
Anywho… Fran Healy, lead singer of Travis, released a solo album at the tail-end of 2010 titled Wreckorder. The album was surprisingly good. But the iTunes “deluxe” version of the album came with a cover of Beach House’s “Zebra.” Neat… I guess. Actually, the song is pretty good – better than the original. But I’m not a Beach House fan so take that into consideration before you argue with me about what I just said.
Check out the track over at our Stereogum by clicking here. And if you like this you can get the track by buying the whole album on iTunes.
Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley plays the piano on the track so does this then count as a “supergroup?” I’m so confused after this morning’s post.
Comment [1]

Travis fontman Fran Healy just released his first solo album earlier this week and today we’ve got ourselves a brand new video for the song “Moonshine” from that album.
Well… the song in this video isn’t exactly the same version of the song on the album but that’s fine. Not everything has to be the same! Or does it? Hmmm. I guess it doesn’t matter because here is the video and the song isn’t the same as it is on the album. In the video Healy just sits down in front of a camera with an acoustic guitar and has at it.
Check it out:
Healy’s album is called Wreckorder and it’s out now!

Lead singer of the band Travis, Fran Healy, has a solo album hitting the interwebs in October. Healy’s solo album will be called Wreckorder and is the first solo album from one of the boys in Travis.
We like Travis so are jazzed (as the kids say) to check out the new material from Healy. Fortunately, we didn’t really have to wait that long because Spin Magazine got the jump on everyone else and premiered one of Healy’s new songs. Yay!
The song is titled “Buttercups” and you can listen to it right here.
The song sounds just like Travis. I guess I don’t really know what I was expecting but I was hoping for a least a little bit of a new direction. I mean, I like the song and all… it just sounds EXACTLY like a Travis song. Oh well… it’s still good.
