This one isn’t so much a music video as it is a video that the band plays behind them while they are performing the song live. But it’s still kinda neat in a weird way.
David Lynch (yes THAT David Lynch) put together an animation for Interpol to use during their live show. As I said, there isn’t a lot going on here and it’s real repetitive and weird but it fits really well with the song I think. But knowing David Lynch made this does add to it’s coolness – probably.
Check out this animation fit to the song “Lights:”
I wonder if David Lynch would do an animation for my band. Maybe a guy chasing a blue button.

Holy shit! What a day! In my little mountain town there was not one, but four (FOUR!) tornadoes that touched down fucking up some shit in a serious way. There was also hail. And it rained cats and dogs. Literally. It literally rained cats and dogs. OK, that’s obviously wrong and impossible but it did almost look like it was possible for it to start raining cats and dogs. That accounts for something right?
Anywho, despite all this we posted a new review this morning. Eric gives us his thoughts and feelings on the new Interpol album. If you want to read the review click here.
Well… we’ll see if we make it through the night. I’m gonna go find a basement to hide in until Friday. Literally.

Wow, we go away for a couple days and a whole bunch of bands put their shit out there for everyone to listen to! That was nice of them. Well, maybe not depending on how good the stuff is. And while we go through all the shit that’s happened in the last several days to get your shit caught up, here are some full album streams for you to enjoy (or, again, not enjoy).
Weezer – Hurley
Interpol – Interpol
Chromeo – Business Casual
That’s it for now. We’ll probably have our reviews of a couple of those albums soon so enjoy them on your own until we have a chance to tell you what to think about them.

Yesterday (was it yesterday? Shit I don’t remember) I posted a newsblog about how excited I was getting about the new Interpol album. I’m still waiting for the album to hit my inbox but the album has been uploaded to MySpace for everyone to listen to early.
Yay!
And you know what? I’m really liking it. Like… really liking it.
But if you want to hear it you can just click here and rock out to this all by yourself.
It took me a bit to warm up to this song but now that I have I can honestly say that I’m really looking forward to Interpol’s new album. I was before but for some reason I wasn’t digging on this song so I was worried about the album. I’m not worried anymore and I can’t wait for the album to drop (I promise to give it a good review… you know, if someone out there from Matador is reading this and wants to send me a free copy – Just sayin’).
But yeah, now Interpol has a new album for Barricade. It’s not as weird as the last Interpol video but I think don Draper is now playing drums for Interpol. Check it out:
Neat!

For this week’s bout we’ve pit two of the biggest names in alternative rock against each other. Why? Well, they both have album coming out (one tomorrow and one next month) and… well, because. Do we need a reason to run two bands against each other? No, we don’t. That’s what we do here. That’s part of the mission statement. I think. We never really go around to writing the mission statement.
Anywho, we have Interpol versus Arcade Fire. Whew! What a match. Unfortunately we had to use a video from Arcade Fire’s last album because they haven’t released a video for any of the new songs yet. Jerks.
So go, watch and vote.
Last week’s winner, Frightened Rabbit, has been sent to the winner’s circle.

We’ve got something a little special for you today. Well, us and every other music blog website out there. Interpol has released another new song and it’s kinda different (but kinda not) from their recent stuff. The song is called “Barricade” and I have the feeling it’s going to take a bunch of listens to get into it.
Anywho, you can listen to the song by clicking here. Of if you are the type that just doesn’t click links because that’s how old people lose all their money, then you can preview the track right here:
Um…
Seriously kids, don’t do drugs.
So that there is the new video for “Lights” by Interpol. I like Interpol, a lot, but this video is kinda… dumb. And weird. But mostly dumb. I’m sure there is some seriously high level shit going on here that I don’t get ‘cus I’m not an artist (or high as shit) but… yeah.
My favorite part though is the end credits. There is an actual character name for the chick that pukes up the milk – Pheromone Doe.
