We all knew that Jónsi did the soundtrack to the film “We Bought a Zoo,” right? That was something we knew. I mean, I knew it and I expected we all knew it because Jónsi (and his band Sigur Rós) are generally awesome and everything they do deserves at least a bit of our attention.
But yeah, there is a video now for the song “Gathering Stories” from the “We Bought a Zoo” soundtrack. The video is a fun little animation featuring… animals. Duh.
Check it out:
Pretty much works all around doesn’t it?

Yesterday (was it yesterday? I can’t remember) we posted a link to a new song from Jonsi. The song was from the soundtrack he did for the upcoming Cameron Crowe flick “We Bought a Zoo.” Today Rolling Stone put the entire soundtrack online for all of us to stream. For free even! Hooray!
The album includes a couple tracks from Jonsi’s solo album and even a Sigur Rós song. That’s all ok with me because I have a huge heart on for both Jonsi and Sigur Rós.
Check out the “We Bought a Zoo” soundtrack in full here.
I will buy this. I probably won’t see the movie.

As I mentioned earlier, it doesn’t seem like there are that many album streams happening right now but there are a bunch of new tracks that have debuted. So… here’s a list of some new tracks to check out on this Monday morning:
A new track from the Jonsi penned “We Bought a Zoo” soundtrack is available here.
A new track from School of Seven Bells called “The Night” is available here.
A couple new tracks from Black Star (Mos Def and Talib Kweli) are up here and here.
Nicki Minaj’s new song “Roman In Moscow” is streaming here.
A new track from Shearwater is streaming here.
“Show Me the Place,” new track from Leonard Cohen is streaming on Soundcloud right here.
A new track from of Montreal called “Wintered Debts” is streaming right here.

My year was made earlier this when Sigur Rós confirmed they will be releasing a new album next year. That’s the best news I’ve heard in forever. And if you are keeping score of Sigur Rós then you know the band just released a concert film and accompanying album. Awesome. It’s awesome. If I could marry it I would so shut up.
But even with all that there is some more Sigur Rós related news. We’ve known for a bit that Sigur Rós’ lead singer, Jónsi, would be providing the soundtrack for Cameron Crowe’s new film, “We Bought A Zoo.” Today we have the first listen from that soundtrack. The song “Gathering Stories” is up on NPR and you can listen to it by clicking here.
The song is good and sounds similar to Jónsi’s solo stuff.

Remember how I told you guys how amazing Jonsi was in concert? Remember? Well now you don’t have to take my word for it because last week Jonsi performed the song “Sticks and Stones” on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”
The song is from some kids movie that I never saw and honestly don’t really remember the name of and don’t feel like looking up. The song is good though. I remember when they played this at the concert and while it wasn’t even close to the highlight of the show, this little clip does offer at least a little bit of insight into how the concert went down.
Check it:
And if you didn’t have the opportunity to see Jonsi in concert than you are in for a treat. Jonsi will be releasing a live CD/DVD of the concert. Awesome. You can pre-order that shit here..

Hey did you notice that we posted a new review this morning? We did! And it’s a concert review. Yup.
I went to the Jonsi concert last weekend and it was… well, you should probably read the whole review. Other wise you won’t get the context of why I think it was the best concert I’ve ever seen.
So go here and read the review then go find where Jonsi is playing next and SEE THAT CONCERT!
In other news, today is stupid and we all need a vacation.

There are a lot of awesome things in this world. And some of these things have origins that aren’t necessarily awesome. Awesome things can come from unawesome places… that’s what I’m trying to say.
Here’s an example of what I’m talking about. Some dude took a Justin Beiber song and slowed it down 800%. The result is really, really awesome. In fact, if I heard this I would think that Jonsi had released a new track. But this isn’t Jonsi, this is Justin Beiber.

See what I mean? Awesome.

It’s Friday everybody! Hooray for Fridays… not the shitty restaurant but the day. Despite a rather frustrating beginning to the week, we’ve made it through another one. Yay?
Since it is Friday I think we should do something fun together. I say we all go to the store, buy a shit-ton of bright colored paint and let’s go out and paint everything. Everything. Even animals and plants. Why? Why not, that’s why. Do we really need a reason to paint shit? No we don’t. Bansky doesn’t. But he is an artist and artists never really need a reason to do anything.
But if you are confused as to what I’m talking about, watch this. This is a commercial that features one of Jonsi’s songs (see… you were thinking “how is this shit related to music?” this whole time but I brought it all back to relevancy):
That’s what I’m talking about! Who wouldn’t want to live in a city that is all the same bright purple or bright green? No one, that’s who. So let’s go! I’ll meet you guys at Home Depot in an hour.

Jónsi, lead singer of Sigur Rós and now accomplished solo artist, has a brand new video for the song “Animal Arithmetic.” Here’s how I think the pitch session went for the video:
Video’s director: I, and just hear me out here… I say we do a bunch of close up shots of you banging on shit.
Jónsi: I love it!
Video’s director: Also, how do you feel about confetti? And maybe fireworks?
Jónsi: I love them!
That’s probably how it went because this video is a bunch of close up shots of Jónsi banging on shit inter-cut with scenes of confetti and fireworks. But whatever. It’s still a good song.
Jónsi is coming to the U.S. on tour and you should all go. I’m going. And that makes me awesome.
Monday. Blah. You kn ow what I mean? You totally know what I mean.
But there is some good news this morning. I haven’t posted very many tour dates on this site for a while. Not sure why… just haven’t. But my inbox is flooded (not literally – that would suck) with people letting me know band’s are heading out on tour. So rather than posting each of these individually, here is a big ass list of bands that are going on tour this fall and a link to their tour dates. This obviously isn’t a full list of EVERY band that is going on tour… because that would be a stupid long list. Anywho, here you go:
James
Eels
Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos
Jonsi
Foals
The National
Frightened Rabbit
Owen Pallett
U2
Stars
Guided By Voices
Like I said… there are a ton more, that’s just the ones I had in my inbox.
