This is an old bit of “news” but whatever. Someone just recently clued me in on it so cut me some slack. If you are gonna be mad at anyone for me being so late to the game, be mad at Tim. The fact that I missed this (for five months) is his fault.
Anywho… Fran Healy, lead singer of Travis, released a solo album at the tail-end of 2010 titled Wreckorder. The album was surprisingly good. But the iTunes “deluxe” version of the album came with a cover of Beach House’s “Zebra.” Neat… I guess. Actually, the song is pretty good – better than the original. But I’m not a Beach House fan so take that into consideration before you argue with me about what I just said.
Check out the track over at our Stereogum by clicking here. And if you like this you can get the track by buying the whole album on iTunes.
Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley plays the piano on the track so does this then count as a “supergroup?” I’m so confused after this morning’s post.

Mt Desolation is a band that is pretty much Keane without the singer dude. There are a bunch of other people that appear on the band’s album but it’s pretty much just Tim Rice-Oxley and Jesse Quin of Keane.
Regardless of who it is, the band has released a new video for the song “Departure.” It’s a cool video but I kinda feel like it’s a commercial for Polaroid. Do they still make Polaroids? I think there is an app for iPhones that let’s you take pictures that look like Polaroids but I’m not sure there are Polaroids anymore.
Actually, I don’t care.
Here’s the video for “Departure:”
What’s with all these Brit Pop Rock bands going “alt-country?”

Brit-poppers Keane have filmed a new little video for the song “Clear Skies.” The video is really nothing more than concert footage from the band’s recent tour but you know, whatever. There is still room for music videos using clips from live performances. There was a time when almost every video was like this so maybe they are going for a nostalgia thing. Or maybe they are cheap. Or maybe they just wanted to make a video of a bunch of live performance clips.
Check out the new Keane video here:
