Remember a couple weeks ago when we posted that new Lost in The Trees song? Well, you’ll never guess what happened! They made a video for it! Can you believe it? Probably. That is actually the most logical thing to have happened so there is really no surprise here whatsoever. Sorry for trying to build it up like it was “a thing.”
The new video, for the new song “Red,” is a little weird. The way it’s edited together is really kinda… weird. I kinda don’t like the way it jerks together – you’ll see what I mean.

See what I mean? The jerky editing gives it a real… weird feeling. And “weird” is really the only word I can think of that describes it. The song is good though.

We (I) are (is) moving a little slower today – mostly due to a Nyquil hangover – but we do have something awesome for you. We have a new song from Lost in the Trees! Actually, we don’t have it, NPR has it. But it doesn’t matter who has it because Lost in the Trees is awesome and the new song, “Red,” is awesome.
Click here to check out the new Lost in the Trees song “Red.”
The song is from the band’s new album, A Church That Fits Our Needs, which is scheduled to come out in March.
Ugh. We (I) need more coffee.

Holy shit is it hard to come back (to life) after a vacation. Especially a vacation where you spent four days gorging yourself. Remember how much pie you ate? I can’t. I know it was “a lot” but beyond that I have no idea. And rolls. Let’s talk about the amount of rolls that were consumed… actually, let’s not. Let’s just forget everything that happened last weekend. I think it’s best for everyone that way.
So today is cyber Monday or some shit? Whatever. I don’t care. I care about music and after looking for some albums streams I am left annoyed as I was unable to find very much. Well happy Thanksgiving I guess! Stupid jerk labels holding on to their albums and not streaming them online for free today. Who do they think they are?
Well, here’s a list of what we were able to find:
Spinner is streaming new albums from:
Gorillaz
John Prine
Chadwick Stokes & Friends
… and a couple others
NPR is streaming new albums from:
Jacaszek
Cormorant
Lost in the Trees are streaming their album All Alone in an Empty House on Soundcloud.
And that’s about it. If you know of any others post ‘em in the comments because sharing is caring.

I feel like most mornings we start off on a negative note. That’s totally my fault. I’m not a morning person. Never have been. In fact, I wish morning would shot itself in the face and die because it’s stupid. OK! See! That’s what I’m talking about. I really don’t mean that but… you know, mornings!
So let’s do something a little different. Let’s start off the morning with something distinctly beautiful. Lost in the Trees filmed a session with La Blogotheque a while back and we posted a couple of those videos. Well… guess what? There is one more! AWESOME!
So let’s start this wonderful (I’m trying!) morning off with Lost in the Trees doing “Icy River.”
Ahhhh. I feel like a new man already!

I’m always curious as to how pitch meetings go for videos. I mean I know how they go in general but I’m actually talking about pitch meetings for specific videos – like this new one from Lost in the Trees. I wonder what the band said when the director explained his idea. I wonder if the band was like “um, OK. Sure. Why not? I mean nothing you just said makes any sense but whatever.”
Basically this new video is a bunch of ideas the director had to make things look odd and maybe a little spooky. I think the pitch to the band was basically “I’ve always wanted to film the following scenes and I want to film those scenes now and put them all in the same video for your new music video. Cool?” It’s a good enough video it’s just a little… well, why don’t you just watch it.

See what I mean?

So we are all back to where we are supposed to be. No more trips to Los Angeles. No more running up to Denver. No More weddings. At least for a couple weeks. It’s also Fall. You can tell because it’s getting quite nipply at night. You know what I mean? You totally know what I mean.
Anywho, this week we have a bout featuring a couple of string sections. The first, Lost in the Trees has like… 25 (not really) members and the second, Owen Pallett, just has one dude. Despite the number of actual band members, both produce some luscious string arrangements that are perfect for the changing leaves and the chill in the air.
So there you go. A couple of string sections go head to head. Owen Pallett versus Lost in the Trees.
Last week’s winner, The Decemberists, has been sent to the winner’s circle.

Last week we posted a review of the new Lost in the Trees album. Did you read it? I wrote it so if you didn’t read it you are gonna totally hurt my feelings. Not really. what kind of adult would I be if that were true. If that was the case I’d have to be on some reality TV show or some shit.
The bottom line on the review is that the album is awesome. In fact, it’s one of my favorites so far this year – top five, easy. And today we have a brand new video for one of those awesome tracks from that awesome album! What a way to start of a Tuesday! It is Tuesday right? It’s been a long week so far…
Here’s the video for Lost in the Trees “Walk Around the Lake:”
Where the hell did they film that? And what’s all that white shit all over the ground and falling from the sky? And they should stop smoking because in every seen there is smoke coming from their face holes.
Hey! Did you know that we posted two (yes two!) new reviews this morning? I know it’s Wednesday and things are a little slower than normal but it totally happened and you should check them out. Now is probably a good time to check them out because you’ve had a couple cups of coffee, probably some lunch and you’ve done everything you needed to do today so you can dick around for the rest of the afternoon. And what better way to dick around than to read two new reviews!
First up is a review of the new Arcade Fire album. The first draft of the review that I got from Revdog would likely have pissed off every hipster and music listener that takes themselves to seriously but… Revdog warmed up to the album. You can read his positive review of The Suburbs here.
Next up, I review one of my favorite albums of the year so far: Lost in the Trees’ All Alone in an Empty Room. The album is a string section nerd’s wet dream. You can check out that review right here.
We’ll have more next week so stay tuned dear readers!
Everyone should watch these:
This band, Lost in the Trees, is very rapidly becoming one of my favorites. And we all know that La Blogothèque is the best fucking website in the history of ever!

The debut album from Lost in the Trees, one of the most anticipated albums of the year (well, I guess it’s really only anticipated by us here at Music Boxer central), is streaming right now on NPR’s All Songs Considered site. That’s just gosh darn awesome if you ask us.
Lost in the Trees is a folky, acoustic, symphonic, classical style band from Chapel Hill, NC. Their debut album, All Alone in an Empty House, comes out on Aug 10th but screw that noise… list to it right now by clicking here.
Everyone should go listen to this and buy, like… 12 copies of the album when it comes out so these guys keep making music.
