Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s have a new album coming out soon and a new single that you can buy right now. The single is called “Prozac Rock.”
do you want to hear it? It’s ok. I was really, really in to Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s after the release of Animal and Not Animal but since then I just can’t get in to them. Once they reorganized the band and went with a more “traditional” rock sound – they just lost a little something that made them stand out in my mind. Oh well…
Like I said though, the new song is OK and it’s definitely worth, at least, a listen.
Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s’ “Prozac Rock:”
Word.

I’m not gonna lie to you guys, I was really disappointed with Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s when I saw them a couple weeks ago. The band is responsible for one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen and while I did not expect them to match the awesomeness of the last show, I still expected them to be really good. Unfortunately they were just good. C’est la vie.
I was equally disappointed with the band’s newest album Buzzard. It just wasn’t nearly as amazing as the band’s previous releases. But Brian captured that in his review of the album.
But today I received some glimmers of hope about the band’s upcoming EP Happy Hour at Spriggs. The band released the first song from that EP and it’s fucking great. If this song was a woman (or hell, maybe even a dude) I’d totally marry it.
Click here to head to Margot’s Facebook page and to listen to “There’s a Freakshow Downtown.”
And as a little bonus Margot awesomeness today, here is a live acoustic version of “New York City Hotel” for your viewing/listening pleasure.
That’s nice.

Hey!
We wrote up some new reviews!
Brian listened to the new Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s album, Buzzard, and wrote a full-on review of it which you can read right here.
And I listened to the new Sufjan Stevens, The Age of Adz_, and did a 1 Sentence review that you can read right here.
Rock.

New music is released on Tuesdays for some reason. Sure, back when people bought CDs (or tapes!) it made sense to have one day when everything new would be put up on the “New Arrivals” wall. But those days are long over and the only thing stopping new music from being available these days is someone hitting the “send” button. But whatever… this post isn’t about all that. What this post is about is the fact that there are a bunch of new albums streaming for free, right now, the day before you can buy them.
Spinner is currently streaming new albums from Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos, Matt Costa, John Legend and The Roots, and Roots Manuva among others.
Click here to check those albums out.
Meanwhile, Paste is currently streaming Deerhunter’s new album. If you want to check that out click here.
And I realize this has nothing to do with music… but a bunch of Music Boxers started a new blog, just for fun, called “Stuff that scares white people.” You should check it out ‘cus we write it and we think scared white people are funny. Click here to find out what white people are scared of these days.

As I said in the 2009 Recap video we did, Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos are responsible for one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. Ever. Since that concert though the band’s lineup has changed and a new album has been recorded. That new album, Buzzard, is getting ready to hit the information super-highway next month! My how time flies. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting in the small little club getting annoyed with the Pabst Generation in anticipation of Margot et all taking the stage.
Anywho, Margot has added one of the new songs from the new album to the band’s official MySpace page and that same song is available as a free download from a number of sources – like this one. Oh yeah… the song is called “New York City Hotel Blues.”
If you are too lazy to head over to MySpace to check out the new song and too weary of links to unknown sources to download the song, you can listen to it right here:
