I was in love with Social Distortion when I was a kid. And when I say “a kid” I mean when I was in high school. It was a different time back then. Before the war. YouknwowhatI’msayin’? You totally know what I’m sayin’.
Well, Social Distortion (or Social D for those in the know) released a new album a couple months ago called Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes. I didn’t get it. Probably because Social D and I broke up in high school. I thought about it though.
All that nonsense said, Spinner does have a free download for one of the new songs! That’s cool. I guess. It’s weird to see your old high school flame giving itself away for free like this but you know… it’s 2011 now and the world is different.

Or just listen to it here:

Another Monday is here whether we are ready for it or not. Is it me or was this last weekend kinda crazy? I guess there was some Gold Globe bullshit that went down last night. I don’t know. I don’t watch TV so I missed whatever the hell it was that everyone is talking about today. C’est la vie.
But because today is Monday and tomorrow is Tuesday, today there are some album streams going on that we thought you might want to check out. So here’s a quick rundown of what we found for you.
NPR is streaming new albums from:
Gang of Four
Wanda Jackson
Paste is streaming the new album from Say Hi.
The new Social Distortion album is streaming here.
The “Black Swan” soundtrack is streaming right here on Empire Magazine’s site.
And Spinner.com is streaming the same stuff they were last week, so… yeah.
That’s it for today.

Social Distortion has been around forever. The first concert Adam and Eve went to was a Social Distortion concert at the El Rey.
Ok, that’s obviously not true (because Adam and Eve never existed) but Social Distortion (or Social D, if you are in the know) have been rocking pretty consistently since the 70s. That’s a long time to good at something.
The band has a new album coming out and a new single has been released on LATimes.com. The song, “California (Hustle and Flow),” is from the band’s new album, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes, which comes out in a couple weeks.
Click here if you want to listen to “California (Hustle and Flow).”
Not bad for guys that are like, 100-years-old.

This week’s bout comes from a Twitter suggestion. That suggestion read like this:
“do punk!!!!!!!”
So OK, we’ll do some punk. Seeing as how Warped Tour ended yesterday this suggestion seemed topical. I guess it would have been more topical back when the Warped Tour kicked off but… whatever. We can’t keep track of everything.
This week we have two punk legends: Face to Face and Social Distortion. Growing up in the 90s punk scene both these bands hold a special place in my heart. I’ve seen both in concert about 100 times (mild exaggeration). I’m not bragging, I’m just sayin’.
So go watch and vote for your favorite.
Last week’s winner, Toto, has been sent to the winner’s circle.
