Stars, a favorite here at Music Boxer, have a new video out! That deserves a “hooray” I think.
The new video is for the track “Dead Hearts” which is from the band’s most recent album The Five Ghosts and is also on some soundtrack for some film named “Like Crazy.” Never heard of the movie. But I have heard The Five Ghosts and that album is good. Very good. This song is good. The video is also good. It’s pretty much just a dude walking around and various “heart” images.
Check it:
I guess Stars are having some kind of contest for the video and you can send images of your “hearts” and they will do something with them. I’m not really sure because I didn’t really read the description of the contest but you can on the band’s Facebook page.
UPDATED: Video was removed so… we fixed it.

We are starting this Friday Dance Party off with some indie-pop! Whoohoo! This particular indie-pop comes from Memphis which is a side project of Stars’ Torquil Campbell. The sound is pretty similar to Stars but that’s totally OK with us because we like Stars. A lot.
This is the video for “I Want The Lights On After Dark” which I can only assume is about ghosts because what other reason would one have for wanting the lights on after it gets dark then to scare away ghosts? Unless… no, nevermind. This song is totally about scaring away ghosts and nothing else.
Anywho, enjoy the song, the video and dance a little bit because it’s fucking Friday!
Nice. That starts today off just right me thinks.

So I guess we all learned last weekend that Canada has assholes too, eh? Suburban white kids… they are now ruining Canada too I guess.
For those not in the know, last weekend the Vancouver Canucks (NHL) lost to the Boston Bruins (also NHL) in the final championship game, at home, on Vancouver ice. After the game and the next day a bunch of dumbshit white kids from the suburbs rioted all over downtown Vancouver because… they are dumbshit white kids.
This guy knows what I’m talking about.
The Bruins fans rioted to but that’s because they are American and really, that surprised no one. This guy was surprised though.
Anywho, in honor of the riots we have two videos in this week’s bout that feature the word “riot” in the title. Right on? Right on! So this week we have Stars (who, as we’ve already established on this site, make fucking great videos) versus Kaiser Chiefs!
So go, watch and vote.
Last week’s winner, Madonna, has been sent to the winner’s circle.

Holy shit you guys! I got all caught up in breaking up with Coldplay that I didn’t even realize it’s Friday!
Here’s a really good new video for Stars’ “We Don’t Want Your Body.” The video is kinda weird and kinda… disturbing in a way but given the lyrics and the tone of the song I really can’t think of a better video. The video features a couple of weight lifters lifting weights, like they do, and falling in love, like they do?
Unfortunately the only place you can see the video right now (that I can find) is on another music blog website that is… well, you know. It’s on Pitchfork.
Click here to watch the video.
And while you are there I’d suggest watching all the other Stars videos because they make very good videos. But I would stay away from the reviews because, well… you know.

Wanna see a naked chick prance around to a song from the newest Stars album? Well, who wouldn’t right? I mean, it’s a perfectly normal thing, for both men and women, to want. Everyone enjoys watching naked women dance around and Stars are an awesome band so really… there is nothing at all wrong with anything that is happening here.
Unless you are at work.
If you are at work… maybe you don’t watch this yet. It’s not graphic – by any means – but it’s also not the sort of thing you want Debbie from Accounts Receivable sneaking up behind you and seeing you watching out of context. I’m not an expert in HR law but I’m pretty sure having a naked (albeit blurred) woman dancing on your computer screens is not the best way to keep a job.
Just saying.
But here is the video for you to either watch at home or take the risk and watch at work.
Stars “Changes:”
We should all dance around naked tonight. I think that would be fun. Go ahead and film yourself doing it and post the videos in the comments.

I realize yesterday was Monday and Monday is the day we typically post a link to albums that are streaming free online but, you know… deal with it. We don’t play by the rules here. Even when the rules are our rules.
We’re loners Dotty, rebels.
So here’s a quick rundown of some albums that you can listen to, in full, for free, right now.
MySpace is streaming new albums from:
David Banner
Ghostface Killah
Jamie Foxx
R. Kelly
Stream the new album from Dead Child Star (Torquil Campbell from Stars’) here.
Spinner.com is still streaming a bunch of albums that are too numerous to list here but most of which are definitely worth checking out.

Stars are on tour right now and they aren’t stopping in every city. Jerks. Apparently they don’t realize that they are awesome and should stop in every city so that everyone can have a chance to see how awesome they are.
I guess those of us not fortunate enough to see them will have to settle for this live performance from Spinner.com. The band stopped by the Interface stage to perform a handful of tracks from the new album The Five Ghosts. The performances are awesome. Of course. My current favorite is “How Much More” featuring singer Amy Millan accompanied with just a piano.
Check it out:
In related news someone that knows the Stars please ask them to come to AZ. I realize that a large part of this state is totally fucking racist but some of us are not racist and the ones that aren’t racist really would like to see them perform.

Hey! Did you know we posted a new review? We did! Yeah! No, we totally did! We (well, just Matt actually) put the new Stars album in the old 8-Track and listened with a critical ear. Then, after listening to it for like… five weeks, we wrote down what he thinks of the new Stars album so that you can read what he thinks about the new Stars album and use that information to gauge whether or not you should check out the new Stars album.
It’s pretty standard review stuff here…
So, do you want to read Matt’s review of the new Stars album? Well, you should because it’s a good review. Click here to read the review of Stars’ The Five Ghosts!
Next week we will have more reviews… probably, so check back every day, several times a day, until then!
Monday. Blah. You kn ow what I mean? You totally know what I mean.
But there is some good news this morning. I haven’t posted very many tour dates on this site for a while. Not sure why… just haven’t. But my inbox is flooded (not literally – that would suck) with people letting me know band’s are heading out on tour. So rather than posting each of these individually, here is a big ass list of bands that are going on tour this fall and a link to their tour dates. This obviously isn’t a full list of EVERY band that is going on tour… because that would be a stupid long list. Anywho, here you go:
James
Eels
Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos
Jonsi
Foals
The National
Frightened Rabbit
Owen Pallett
U2
Stars
Guided By Voices
Like I said… there are a ton more, that’s just the ones I had in my inbox.

It’s Friday! You know what that means! It’s time for some free music! About time… that’s kinda what I’m thinkin’.
So this week we have a free track from Stars who just released a (fucking awesome!) new album this week called The Five Ghosts. The song is about someone who doesn’t want someone else’s body. I’m not even sure what that means because everyone always wants my body. Am I right ladies? I’m totally right.
Click here to download “We Don’t Want Your Body” courtesy of RCRD.LBL.
We’ll have a review for the new Stars album next week but in the meantime, you should buy it so when we post the new review next week we can all discuss this as educated adults who are familiar with the material in discussion.
Right.
Free Music Friday comes to you every Friday at musicboxer.com with a different free and legal mp3 download for your audacious pleasure. Send recommendations to revdog@musicboxer.com and we’ll be happy to feature them.

Holy shit you guys. Our inbox is flooded with people letting us know about streaming albums. Apparently every single album being released in the next couple weeks is being streamed somewhere on the interwebs right now. We’ll get through them as fast as we can and post all the info for you guys since it’s what we do.
So second up (since we just posted about the Hot Hot Heat album) is The Five Ghosts by Stars. We’ve posted a couple of the new tracks here as they’ve popped up and now NPR is streaming the full album. Sweet.
Click here to take yourself a listen to The Five Ghosts by Stars.
Stay tuned because if the information I have in my inbox is accurate, it’s going to be a day of new music for you all to listen to and enjoy.

The Stars released the single “Fixed” a couple weeks ago and today we (finally?) get to see the video. The video features the band kinda performing while an art student wreaks havoc on the footage. Or at least that what it looks like.
Check out Stars video for “Fixed” here:
The song is growing on me. At first I wasn’t really that into it but now I kinda am. And does that drummer dude think he is the drummer dude from No Doubt? I think he thinks he is.
Anywho, “Fixed” is from the upcoming The Five Ghosts album which comes out June 22.
