As I expected, because I am an expert in these types of things (and not because it’s 2011 and these things just happen now so it was just a matter of time), a couple more of U2 Achtung Baby covers have hit the interwebs. The new cover tracks popping up today are from The Killers and Depeche Mode.
The Killers have covered “Ultraviolet (Light My Way)” and the result is… eh. Not that all that great. I respect what they are trying to do but it’s just not really working for me. Check it out yourself:
The Killers’ version of “Ultraviolet (Light My Way):”
That said, I am digging Depeche Mode’s version of “So Cruel” but that should be taken with a grain of salt as I am already a huge Depeche Mode fan. The band sticks pretty close to the original and really just gives the song a slight Depeche Mode feel but it’s still pretty good. Not as good as the original (no duh) but it’s the second best cover we’ve heard so far – the first being Jack White’s version of “Love is Blindness.”
Depeche Mode’s “So Cruel:”
There are still a bunch more of these set to come out so… you’ll see ‘em when I see ‘em.

The Killers are (allegedly) working on a new album. I’m not sure how to feel about that since the band’s last album was… um… terrible. There I said it. I tried real hard to like it but god damn… I mean, god damn.
While the band was on hiatus the lead singer dude made a solo album and so did the drummer. The drummer? Yes. The drummer made a solo album. Want to hear a song from that drummer’s solo album? Why not? It ain’t like you have anything better to do. While the song isn’t super awesome, it’s WAY better then anything the Killer’s have done in a long time.

Sounds like this song is fresh off the new The Cars album. Amiright?

Brandon Flowers is a huge fan of Cirque du Soleil. I guess. I mean, I’m making that assumption because his new video for “Only the Young” is a full on Cirque du Soleil with Flowers hanging out in the middle of the whole performance thing. Flowers is also doing some weird 80’s New Wave dance thing that I’m not real sure about.
I dig on the song but the video is kinda… eh. I guess if I liked Cirque du Soleil even a little bit then I’d probably like this video more. But I don’t like Cirque du Soleil, primarily because I’m not a 50-year-old grandmother of three.
Just sayin’.
Anywho, check out Brandon Flowers’ video for “Only the Young:”
This video does remind me of Vegas (because that’s where Cirque du Soleil lives) and I do love Vegas… hmmm. Anyone want to go to Vegas this weekend?

You wanna hear clips from every song on Brandon Flowers’ new solo album Flamingo?
If that is a yes, click here. If that’s a no, click here.
Either way everything is gonna be ok.
Brandon Flowers’ new video for the song “Crossfire” everyone:
The Killers, and I guess Flowers since he is a member, generally make decent music videos and this one is no exception. I sure wish I was rich and could pay Charlize Theron to rescue me over and over again. Rescue me from Ninjas. Ninjas are assholes.
As far as the song goes… it’s growing on me. It’s definitely better than most of the last Killers’ album, that’s for sure.

More! More new music!
Brandon Flowers, who you will remember as the oddly mustachioed lead singer of The Killers, has a new solo album coming out and today we get a glimpse of what it will sound like. And you know what? It kinda sounds like The Killers. That’s not a bad thing, I’m just sayin’. But why are you even listening to me? You should check it out for yourself.
Here’s Brandon Flower’s new single “Crossfire.”
Whatchu dudes and dudettes think?
