I hope no one else in the world needs snow because my little mountain town has it all. All of it. We got it all. There is no more snow for anyone else anywhere. It’s all here. And while we dig our selves out of all the snow, here are some new songs that you can listen to.
“Polish The Broken Glass,” a new track from Matt Pryor’s new solo album, May Day, is streaming over at Spin.
You can listen to the new Guided By Voices song “Doughnut for a Snowman” over at Rolling Stone.
A new track from Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa is streaming here.
A couple new (and live) The National songs are streaming on Stereogum.
Stereogum also has new tracks from Choir Of Young Believers and R.E.M..
A new track from Imperial Teen is streaming here.
And a new Cranberries song is streaming right here.
That should hold you over for a little while.

Holy shit you guys! We all have to hurry on this one.
One of the best bands in the world (I think), The National, is giving away a free song from their Cherry Tree EP that came out a couple years ago. But you can only download it today. The song is “About Today” and it’s awesome so you should download. I mean, it’s free so there really is no reason not to download it. Even if you don’t like The National – free music is free music.
Click here to download “About Today” for FREE!
Sorry about the short notice. I’ll try harder to stay on top of limited time free downloads. When I’m not getting ready for the Brass Bells Society show tomorrow night!!!! That you should all go to!!! Unless you don’t live in AZ.

“Portal” is a video game? I guess. And I guess there is a new “Portal” game coming out? And I guess it’s called “Portal 2?” I don’t know. I’m not a nerd. I mean, I’m a nerd but I’m not a “gamer” nerd. I actually can’t be a “gamer” nerd because I don’t like Mountain Dew and I exercise. Burn.
Anywho… I’ve never heard of “Portal” but whatever, that’s not the point. The point is that The National, one of Music Boxer’s favs, has a new song that is somehow associated with the game. Cool! The song is very slow, piano driven and very pretty. I like it. A lot.
You can download the new track on Amazon!
Yay!
So do a lot of video games have such pretty and stirring soundtracks or are video game makers trying to target nerds of my variety because they’ve maxed out on the “gamer” nerds?

Remember awhile back when we got together and discussed the fact that there is a new movie coming out called “Win Win” and how that movie will feature a new song from The National? Remember that? If not, click here to refresh your memory so we don’t have to revisit anything that we already talked about.
There is a video for “Think You Can Wait” now and it features the band performing as well as scenes from the movie as well as outtakes from the filming of the movie. Want to see the video? Of course you do because it’s a great song.
The National “Think You Can Wait:”
My only complaint about this video is that the dialog from the movie and the outtakes take away from my enjoyment of the song. But what do I know? I’m only an award winning film maker (sorry… felt like bragging. Won’t happen again).

I guess there is some movie out or coming out called “Win Win?” I’m not really sure. I think I saw a total of three movies in the theater last year. It’s not that I don’t enjoy movies, I do, it’s just that I have way too much other shit to do. It’s a rough life.
Anywho, the movie features a brand new track from The National. That’s really cool because The National are really cool. The track is called “Think You Can Wait” and if you want to hear it you can click right here (courtesy of Some Kind Of Awesome).
I like it. But I also liked the shit out of The National’s High Violet. I guess I’m just a The National kinda guy.

The National have a new video out!
That’s all I should have to say but because it’s humpday (haha, I said “hump”) I’ll talk about a little more.
The National released my favorite album last year. And by favorite I mean the album that I listened to more than any other album. There were a lot of really great albums that came out last year but for whatever reason, none of them had the “stay in my car stereo” power that The National’s High Violet had. And today we get a new video for a song off that album! Awesome.
The video is for the track “Conversation 16” (one of the album’s best songs) and it (the video) is kinda… funny. The National make oddly funny videos for their seemingly dark and serious songs. That’s cool. Why take everything so god damn serious (cough ArcadeFire cough).
Check it out:
Kristin Schall is the best. The best! I want to marry her.

Yeah… I know. This one is a little lazy. But that’s OK. We all have to phone it in occasionally.
This week’s bout is all about November. Because… well, it’s November. I’m not 100% sure but I think 90% of the world’s population is born in November. Seriously. Just stop for a moment and think of all the people you know that were born in November. In the time it took me to right that sentence I thought of 450 people who were born in November.
So in honor of everyone born in November (and because I feel like being lazy) this week’s bout features two songs about November. We have Guns ‘N Roses taking on The National.
So go, watch and vote now!
Last week’s winner, Michael Jackson (no duh), has been sent to the winner’s circle.

Earlier today I was complaining about how I missed Frightened Rabbit when they came and performed a concert in my general (150+ mile radius) area. One show I did not miss was The National. They were great. Great, I tell you!
The National’s new video for the song “Terrible Love (Alternate Version)” captures a little bit of what makes The National concerts great. The video also captures the band engaging in tour hijinx just like half of all other music videos. But whatever, it’s a good song – even though I like the album version better.
The National “Terrible Love (Alternate Version):”
My favorite part of this video is when they do that thing that shows that they are normal people, just like everyone else, even though they are rockstars.
Monday. Blah. You kn ow what I mean? You totally know what I mean.
But there is some good news this morning. I haven’t posted very many tour dates on this site for a while. Not sure why… just haven’t. But my inbox is flooded (not literally – that would suck) with people letting me know band’s are heading out on tour. So rather than posting each of these individually, here is a big ass list of bands that are going on tour this fall and a link to their tour dates. This obviously isn’t a full list of EVERY band that is going on tour… because that would be a stupid long list. Anywho, here you go:
James
Eels
Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos
Jonsi
Foals
The National
Frightened Rabbit
Owen Pallett
U2
Stars
Guided By Voices
Like I said… there are a ton more, that’s just the ones I had in my inbox.
