MUSIC NEWS:

"Screw NBC" - These guys

The Roots new album is great. Great! One of the best releases of the year. That’s my review of the album.

One of the better tracks on the album is the song “Sleep” and “Sleep” now has a video to go along with. The video is also good. I guess what I am trying to say here is that The Roots are doing a whole lot of “good” and “great” lately so we should all jump on that bandwagon – if we aren’t already on it.

Check out the video for “sleep” right here:

See! Good!

"We are good" - These guys

Wanna stream the new The Roots album?

But before we get to that I kinda want to talk about the whole Michele Bachman (I’m not sure if I spelled her name right and honestly I don’t care) thing that went down last week. I guess when Michele Bachman appeared on the Jimmy Fallon show The Roots welcomed her by playing a cute little diddy by Fishbone. The problem (problem for whatever network Jimmy Fallon is on) is that the Fishbone song was “Lyin’s Ass Bitch”.‎ That’s great. Seriously. That is just great. Michele Bachman is a terrible person (and if you don’t agree then please read another website because even Republicans should find her statements and platform atrocious) and she deserves an introduction like that. Yeah, that’s right. I said it. But whatever… this still isn’t a politics blog.

Anywho…

"Hi" - This guy

New music is released on Tuesdays for some reason. Sure, back when people bought CDs (or tapes!) it made sense to have one day when everything new would be put up on the “New Arrivals” wall. But those days are long over and the only thing stopping new music from being available these days is someone hitting the “send” button. But whatever… this post isn’t about all that. What this post is about is the fact that there are a bunch of new albums streaming for free, right now, the day before you can buy them.

Spinner is currently streaming new albums from Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos, Matt Costa, John Legend and The Roots, and Roots Manuva among others.

Click here to check those albums out.

Meanwhile, Paste is currently streaming Deerhunter’s new album. If you want to check that out click here.

And I realize this has nothing to do with music… but a bunch of Music Boxers started a new blog, just for fun, called “Stuff that scares white people.” You should check it out ‘cus we write it and we think scared white people are funny. Click here to find out what white people are scared of these days.

The Roots have a new video for the song “The Fire” off their new album How I Got Over (an album we reviewed!). The video is very cinematic and is a war-time narrative about prisoners of war. I think. It’s kinda hard to figure out what’s happening unless you are really paying attention. Which I wasn’t.

But it’s a great video – as long as you aren’t the type of person that needs endings to be wrapped up in pretty bows of explanation. If you are that type of person then you are just going to get mad at this video and you probably also think “No Country for Old Men” is confusing.

That said, here’s the video for “The Fire:”

I really like this video. And I think the thing in the box at the end was a top that stopped spinning proving that it was all real.

Hey! Did you notice that we posted a new review? We did! Brian (ed note: finally!) has officially documented his feelings and thoughts about the new The Roots album, How I Got Over.

I don’t want to spoil the entire review for you, but Brian kinda dug it. In fact, he really dug it and recommends that every single man, woman and child hear this album. But really, you should read the review for yourself because if you didn’t than he would have done all that work for no reason.

So click here to read Brian’s review of The Roots How I Got Over.

Next we will have a couple more reviews… one of which will likely piss off every music snob in the country (if not the world!). So stay tuned.
